Jeremiah 33:14-16: “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. “‘In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.’”
Luke 21:25-28 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
ADVENT! Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is simply a devotional, meditative period leading up to the celebration of Christmas. In Advent we remember the coming of Christ, the King in a manger, a baby. We also consider his return to earth … no longer the babe in the manger but the King of Glory.
I invite you to light the candle of expectation with me. Let’s stand, lift up our heads, and sing out loud the words of Job … “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. … I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (Job 19:25, 27)
Yes…yearning. *Beautiful here.*
