“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” ~~ Ashley Smith
Today I have so much to be thankful for … so much beauty in my life!
It rained today … lightly … not much, really … but the rain reminds me of cleansing … the earth gets a bath. I’m grateful for rain … grateful that today’s rain was not snow or ice … grateful that the rain fell only lightly.
We went to the museum today to see an exhibit of impressionist works of art. Actually the exhibit showed the beginnings of impressionism … explained some of that movement. I liked the impressionistic landscapes … Renoir, especially … but many others as well. I’m grateful for the beauty found in history, for paintings, for museums, for the opportunity to explore our cultural history.
I’m grateful for a God who meets us where we are. We attended a salute to Dr. Martin Luther King this evening … a worship service, really. We reviewed pieces of history, some background not often shared … of the night that MLK cried out to God over a cup of reheated coffee. I thankful God met him there … and that not many years after that, God met me on my path … offered to me the gift of life.
The author of the quote I highlighted says “fight for your dreams” … so appropriate for this date … when we are reminded of the dream of unity that MLK fought for. Proverbs says … “Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.” I’m thankful for dreams … for the dreams that God designs … for His purpose that will stand!
