Love and faithfulness meet together;
Psalm 85:10-13
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.
The Lord will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.
Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.
“Heaven’s peace and perfect justice kissed a guilty world in love.” God’s justice and His mercy met at the cross. The debt of sin was paid, and the gift of grace established for all who will seek after Him.
The attributes of God – love, faithfulness, righteousness, and peace – will saturate the new Kingdom. I can’t help but notice that in those few verses above, righteousness is mentioned three times. It implies the holiness in God’s future kingdom.
We’ve been brought into his kingdom, taught to seek first his kingdom, and to pray, “your kingdom come!” He is making us, those he has purchased with his blood, to be a kingdom!
May His Kingdom come … in its completeness, fullness, in its final consummation.
Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful,
Hebrews 12:28
and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe!
Here is love, vast as the ocean,
William Rees, mid 1800s, Public Domain
Loving-kindness as the flood,
When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,
Shed for us His precious blood.
Who His love will not remember?
Who can cease to sing His praise?
He can never be forgotten,
Throughout heav’n’s eternal days.
On the mount of crucifixion,
Fountains opened deep and wide;
Through the floodgates of God’s mercy
Flowed a vast and gracious tide.
Grace and love, like mighty rivers,
Poured incessant from above,
And heav’n’s peace and perfect justice
Kissed a guilty world in love.
Let me, all Thy love accepting,
Love Thee, ever all my days;
Let me seek Thy kingdom only,
And my life be to Thy praise;
Thou alone shalt be my glory,
Nothing in the world I see;
Thou hast cleansed and sanctified me,
Thou Thyself hast set me free.
In Thy truth Thou dost direct me
By Thy Spirit through Thy Word;
And Thy grace my need is meeting,
As I trust in Thee, my Lord.
Of Thy fullness Thou art pouring
Thy great love and pow’r on me,
Without measure, full and boundless,
Drawing out my heart to Thee.
As you pray today, thank God that His kingdom has come! His birth, life, death, resurrection ushered in His new Kingdom. Ask Him to help you praise Him, celebrating His coming to earth!
