“Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.” ~~ Francis P. Church
This cardinal says “Let me in out of the cold.” |
The woodpecker’s persistent staccato like drumming on our house awakened me this morning. I’m grateful for the woodpecker and the myriad of other birds chirping just outside my door. We live in suburbia, USA so it would be easy to miss details in creation. I’m grateful that our house backs up to a small creek, that our lot includes a few trees, and that we have both a patio and a deck. The deck is level with the tops of the trees. It’s chilly outside this morning but the chipper songs of the birds are worth the bit of cold. Their voices sound like laughing … joyful praise to their creator!
Lifted the skies and pushed the hills apart,
I ‘ve felt it like a glory in my heart,
(The world’s mysterious stir)
But had no throat like yours, my bird,
Nor such a listener. ~E. Markham
As the birds offer their loud praise to the creator … I join in with songs of praise … “All creatures of our God and King, Lift up your voice and with us sing, Alleluia! Alleluia!”
